Karah passes up defending her U.S. Kids World Champion title for a shot at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship!

Karah has been anxiously looking forward to her chance of becoming a 3x US Kids World Champion ever since her 2nd victory last year at Pinehurst, N.C.
But on June 30, 2014 at South Hills Country Club, with her brother on the bag, she qualified for the US Girls Junior Championship which was established in 1949.

One week later she also qualified for The U.S. Women's Amateur Championship
...again, with big brother Bobby Sanford as her faithful caddy.

The U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship marks the beginning of women’s competitive golf in this country. Along with the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Open, the Women’s Amateur was one of the USGA’s first three championships. ... click here for the History of this USGA event.

The Buzz

What an amazing accomplishment, that a 12 year old girl would find herself in the ranks of the top 156 amateur female golfers in the world vying to become our next national champion! No doubt about it, that no matter how far she continues from this point forward, she is already a champion!

But should they continue to thru the match play events and actually go on to win, a new world record would be set, being the youngest ever win at age twelve...

Dear Karah,

Congratulations!  You have been selected to compete in the 2014 KNC Champions Junior Challenge on Monday, March 31st on the Palmer Course at Mission Hills Country Club.

By accepting this playing spot from SCGA Youth on Course, I understand that I will be playing in the KNC Champions Junior Challenge on March 31, 2014. Should I be the low junior qualifier, I will receive an exemption to the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship played later that week and will make myself available to the SCGA for interviews and media obligations.

FCG National Tour Spring Series- Sycuan Resort

Karah Sanford stays afloat on Sunday when the rain came crashing down...
Though her round may have felt more like water polo than golf, 76 was enough to keep her in a playoff which she won on the first hole with a par. Chalk it up as a day to learn how to play in the rain.

7th annual San Diego Junior Amateur Championship

Karah Sanford of Escondido, emerged as the local winner, and now five-time champion, in the 7th annual San Diego Junior Amateur Championship (girls 11-12) staged by Future Champions Golf last week. The event drew 400 players from around the world and is the largest winter-break tournament in the U.S.

For her 5th consecutive time, Karah Sanford (Escondido, CA), won a San Diego Junior Amateur title. This time it came in her first year in the Girls 11-12 division. In the history of Future Champions Golf, no one has ever been a 5-time FCG World Series Champion. Sanford and Sabrina Iqbal (San Jose, CA) were both tied for first in the division after they both shot a 1st round 74 (+2). On the second day, Sanford was able to pull away and claim the title after a 2nd round of 3 birdies, 3 bogeys & 12 pars, for a round of even-par 72.
