to ever win an SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup event.

The Toyota Tour Cup Series features the best Junior Golfers in Southern California hosted at premiere facilities and formatted over two-day 36 hole events.  Membership for the Toyota Tour Cup is invitation only, which can be attained by Qualifying School, Players Tour Series Points, or Local Qualifiers. In addition, the top players from the following junior golf organizations will be individually invited: Arizona, Hawaii, New Mexico, Nevada, Northern California, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Ventura County, Washington, and Canada. All Toyota Tour Cup events are nationally ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, as well as recognized by AJGA Performance Based Entry stars. Five of the events will be ranked by Golfweek, including the Toyota Tour Cup Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course.

National Drive Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National Golf Club

The KNC Champions Junior Challenge, an event part of Kraft Nabisco Championship week, will give the top California junior girl golfers the chance to play alongside LPGA Legends for a shot at a spot in the LPGA Major tournament. The Junior Challenge will take place Monday, March 31 with the Kraft Nabisco Championship beginning later that week. Both events will be held at Mission Hills CC, but you can follow along with the action live here at scga.org

Played at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the home of American Golf, the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship is the largest and most prestigious event in the world for players 12 and under.

This three-day tournament, held in the setting of tall southern pines and Donald Ross greens, attracts over 1,200 participants from across the United States and more than 45 countries abroad.

Karah Sanford - age 10,  captured her 3rd victory this weekend in the 11-12 division of the San Diego Junior Golf Association.
Overcoming a 2 shot deficit from round 1, Karah fired 13 pars and 3 birdies, with only 2 bogey's to card a nice final round of 1 under par.

2011 World Championship Recap

The 2011 World Championship features 1208 youngsters from 39 countries and 48 states. Players have been divided into 13 age groups over nine courses in the Pinehurst and Southern Pines areas in North Carolina.

Round One
A year after being defeated in a playoff at the World Championship, Karah Sanford came out swinging at Longleaf Golf and Country Club. She put up a 5-under-par 31 to take a strong four-stroke lead into the second round. Three players are tied at 1-under-par 35, including 2010 World Champion Emilie Alba Paltrinieri of Italy. Also posting 35s were Mohan Du of China and Agustina Gomez Cisterna of Argentina. Maria Fernanda Martinez and Cordelia Lopez, both of Mexico, are tied for fifth at even-par 36.


Round Two

Karah Sanford of Escondido, Calif., continued her assault on the Girls 9 division, as she fired a 3-under-par 33 to back up her first-round 5-under-par 31. At 8-under-par 64 for the tournament, she is currently eight strokes clear of her nearest competitor. Sanford birdied three of her first four holes and parred her way home to make it 18 bogey-free holes thus far. 2010 champion Emilie Alba Paltrinieri leads a group of three players tied for second place at even-par 72 for the tournament. Paltrinieri and Mohan Du of China shot 1-over-par 37 to get to 72, while Christine Wang of Houston matched Sanford's low score at 3-under-par 33. Wang eagled two of the three par-5s that she faced. Cordelia Lopez of Mexico is tied with Maria Camila Moreno Sanabria of Colombia for fifth place at 1-over-par 73 for the tournament.
 

Final Round
Karah Sanford of Escondido, Calif., took nothing for granted on Saturday, as she fired a 4-under-par 32 to win the World Championship by eight strokes. She entered the final round with an eight-shot lead and continued to solidify her position on top, as she was 3-under-par through three holes and finished the tournament at 12-under-par 96. Emilie Alba Paltrinieri, who won the Girls 8 division in 2010, made a charge with a final-round 32 of her own, but Sanford never gave an inch. Paltrinieri finished alone in second at 4-under-par 104. Christine Wang of Houston finished under-par as well, ten strokes back of Sanford. Mogan Du of China, Michaela Morard of Huntsville, Ala., and Suzuka Yagi of Japan tied for fourth place at 1-over-par 109.

Karah's 2010 accomplishments should leave no doubt in anyones mind that a great deal of time and preparation goes into her game… But one thing that I have always tried to do is "Keep It Fun”

Karah is self motivated, self determined, and focused beyond her years. She loves to practice and she loves to win!

But during our precious time together out on the golf course we often take time to hit an extra ball into the lake just to watch it splash… feed a fish… hide a ball in a tree just to see if it will still be there tomorrow… fill up one of our cup holders with worms or rollie pollies… or just sit together and have a picnic in her pink pin striped golf cart. In our endless hours together we have turned over rocks looking for “friends” – saved a gophers life from the onslaught of the black crows – We’ve had chipping challenges countless times to see who’s paying for the ice cream and

swerved sharply on more than one occasion in an effort to avoid making squirrel pancakes…

These are memories that will last long after the thrill of a win has passed.

There is a time to play… and a time to focus… find the balance…
