7th annual San Diego Junior Amateur Championship

Karah Sanford of Escondido, emerged as the local winner, and now five-time champion, in the 7th annual San Diego Junior Amateur Championship (girls 11-12) staged by Future Champions Golf last week. The event drew 400 players from around the world and is the largest winter-break tournament in the U.S.
 
For her 5th consecutive time, Karah Sanford (Escondido, CA), won a San Diego Junior Amateur title. This time it came in her first year in the Girls 11-12 division. In the history of Future Champions Golf, no one has ever been a 5-time FCG World Series Champion. Sanford and Sabrina Iqbal (San Jose, CA) were both tied for first in the division after they both shot a 1st round 74 (+2). On the second day, Sanford was able to pull away and claim the title after a 2nd round of 3 birdies, 3 bogeys & 12 pars, for a round of even-par 72.
